For over 30 years, ONE80TC (Teen Challenge NSW) has given young people who struggle with life controlling issues a second chance at life. We are a non-government organisation.
Teen Challenge was established by the Reverend David Wilkerson in New York City in 1958. The organisation now operates in 70 Countries around the world in over 400 centres. Teen Challenge first came to Brisbane in 1975 and one year later Teen Challenge NSW was established.
Whilst we are incredibly proud of our heritage, we felt the brand of Teen Challenge needed to be updated to better reflect the age group we serve and the outcomes that we were achieving through our training programs. In 2006 it was decided that Teen Challenge would remain as the legal entity, but would function as ONE80TC. The "ONE80" represents a 180 degree turnaround to a persons life, the "TC" represents training Centre, Our hope is that those who enter our program will experience a 180 degree turnaround in their lives through the training and education ONE80TC provides.
Our program is voluntary and students may choose to leave the program at any time, We aim to provide a safe environment where young men can deal with serious and debilitating issues that affect their health and wellbeing.
As a faith based organisation we provide a holistic approach, addressing physical, emiltional and spiriual needs. We also provide access to specialised services including general practioners, psychiatrists and psychologists.
ONE80TC is funded largely through the generosity of private donations, fund raising activities and corporate sponsorships. Students make a voluntary fortnightly contribution through their Centrelink benefit to go towards food and board costs.
We are a 40 bed facility providing a long term residential training program for young men aged 18-35 |
