Click here to see the action shots On the Thursday the 25th of November the Chamber met for its annual Christmas get together. This year it was decided that a very informal get together would be the chosen choice and a fun afternoon down at the Richmond Bowls club would be what was needed to unwind after a hectic year for all. Although the ashes were on at the same time which just met the urge to role the arm over to show “Warnie” just how the real flipper worked the head greens keeper decided that this was not a good idea and that it “just was not cricket”. Still that said we still managed to send down a couple of bullets. Damien Tomlinson, Vice President of the Chamber, did his best to send those bowls into the actual club itself. It was left to a few us to show him the finesse of such a sport. Ah the delicacy of bowls. Of course after a couple of beverages in the hot sun it meant that there were quite a few bowls landing in the gutter. Jason, President of the Chamber, managed to lose a bet. Now we wouldn’t be Australians if a bet was not put down or two would we. It was an expensive role of the bowl. Also a huge Thank you to Anke Gibbons from Conveyancing and Property Solutions and Jo Dunstan from Angel’s Florist for donating some lucky door prizes for the day. Jo donated two lovely gift baskets that were very eagerly accepted by the winners and Anke donated two lovely bottles of Moet Champagne that were also very popular indeed especially by the ladies in the group. I wanted to thank everyone personally for attending the function and if all goes to plan we will be doing more of these types of activities in the future. It is a great time to meet the fellow businesses in the community and network between each other. Who knows who may be able to help you out of a tight spot or pass on some great leads to you in the future that will help out your business? The chamber is not only there as a voice for you on topics that affect the local area but also as a means to meet people and network with like minded people focused on the area succeeding. The Chamber has seen a number of changes this year including a new executive and we hope that we can deliver what is necessary to improve the business environment in the local area for all. We also hope to be a loud voice for all the businesses in the local area to local, state and federal government on the issues that are affecting you. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in 2011.
