NWDS is an innovative, person centric, not for profit organisation providing individualised and group based activities for people with a disability. NWDS has been highly sort after for their recreational and skill development activities that draw out the particular talents and passion of each individual and inspire engagement with their local community. Whilst NWDS can meet the wide range of individual, in home and community requests for support with highly trained and devoted staff they also specialise in all kinds of arts, music, woodwork and craft workshops (with participants winning awards in the Royal Ester Show). The horticulture and garden landscape activities and workshops are offered at the award winning Secret Garden (Gardening Australia -Community Garden runner up in 2014). NWDS also builds skills in all sports and their swimming squad and horse riding facilities provide opportunities for people to be involved in activities that not only develop a love of participation but also build confidence and a passion for greater levels of engagement. The development of independence and widening of friendship networks is a focus within all activities and supports provided. Carers find the NWDS approach both a support and valuable transitional opportunity as they build their personal understanding of individualised funding.
NWDS welcomes volunteers and manages to maintain costs to a minimum through its extensive community connection. NWDS offers support across the North Western area of Sydney and many individual supports across NSW.
